About Us

As gateways to knowledge and culture, libraries play a fundamental role in society. The resources and services they offer create opportunities for learning, support literacy and education, and help shape the new ideas and perspectives that are central to a creative and innovative society.

As per the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, 2016 the name of Library became Knowledge Resource Centre. Solapur University’s Knowledge Resource Centre was established in the year 2004. Since then the K.R.C. has made consistent progress in terms of collection of books, periodicals, CDs, E-resources, services and has provided Infrastructure. The Knowledge Resource Centre plays an important role in our academic lives. K.R.C.is an organized collection of information resources made accessible to students and faculty for reference or borrowing and this collection of information is available in the form of books, newspapers, CD’s, journals and research papers etc. K.R.C. provides us physical and digital access to material. RFID System, which enables students and faculty to Issue and Return Books by themselves very easily taking our K.R.C. a step ahead to digitization. Collection in a K.R.C. may vary from books, periodicals, newspapers, manuscripts, maps, prints, documents, CDs, e-books, audio books, databases, and other formats.Books, newspapers and periodicals are the main features of a K.R.C. and they represent the endeavours, achievements and glory of writers, statesmen, scientists, philosophers and saints and one can learn a lot from these. The purpose of a K.R.C. is to freely disseminate knowledge. Our K.R.C. is therefore operated on a need based approach rather than the usual rules-based treatment given to students everywhere. We allow open access to the collection, exhibitions and through information literacy we encourage students to read books and access e-resources. K.R.C. is a soul-nourishing place for students and faculty, and a natural focal point for the meeting of minds.
